Shelley has been involved in quilting and embroidering since the 70s. When silk ribbon embroidery became popular, she fell in love with the technique, creating projects and teaching. She combined her love of quilting with embroidery and embellishment to create Wearable Art. An Ensemble she entered in Pacific International won 2nd Place. In the late 90s she developed a technique for Cathedral Window quilts done entirely by machine. Two books followed, Machine Stitched Cathedral Windows and Machine Stitched Cathedral Stars. She appeared on Simply Quilts and her projects were featured in McCall’s Quilting, Quiltmaker and The Quilter. RJR Fashion Fabrics and Robert Kaufman Fabrics have invited her to design quilts for their publications. She has been traveling to guilds to lecture and teach the Cathedral Window technique for almost twenty years. In the last ten years she has returned to her love of Embellishment and Embroidery adding a Lecture and Workshop focused on these techniques.
