SUMMARY:Jennifer Wagner
DESCRIPTION:Lecture: Quilts In Color: 5 Creative Strategies for Color Confidence \n\n\n\nOne of the most exciting things about quilting is how a few simple tweaks—rotate a block\, flip the contrast\, shrink or blow up a print\, or splash in unexpected colors—can completely transform a design. That creative magic is what sparked Quilts in Color\, an engaging\, interactive lecture all about bringing your quilts to life through intentional color choices. \n\n\n\nIn this session\, we’ll dive into five accessible\, eye-opening strategies for playing with color—whether you’re working from a pattern or designing your own. You’ll walk away inspired and empowered\, ready to look at every quilt pattern through a fresh lens and make it unmistakably you. \n\n\n\nParticipants will: \n\n\n\n\nExplore five different methods of creating color palettes\n\n\n\nReceive a free downloadable packet of quilt designs featured in the lecture\, perfect for practicing the color strategies we explore together and continuing the fun at home!\n\n\n\nUse those methods to color quilt designs and discover what inspires their personal style\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Jennifer: \n\n\n\nJen Wagner is a quilt pattern designer and instructor from Las Vegas\, NV\, with a background as a women’s health nurse practitioner and certified nurse midwife. SUMMARY:Master Curved Piecing with Jen Wagner
DESCRIPTION:Curious about curved piecing but not sure how to dive in? This class is the perfect place to start! Jen will walk you through everything you need to make curves easier\, faster\, and more accurate – no stress\, just great results. You’ll be using either the Many Moons or Broken Moons quilt pattern (your choice!). Both feature large\, gentle curves that are ideal for learning. Bonus: We’ll explore how contrast\, color\, and fabric choice dramatically change the look of the quilts. Solids give them a sleek\, modern vibe\, while bold prints in the circles create a totally different feel. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll participants will need to purchase their choice of pattern (Many Moons – $12 OR Broken Moons – $12). Any additional kits or supplies are optional and available for purchase on Jennifer’s website and during the workshop. \n\n\n\nBoth patterns have two size options. Jen recommends making the larger version as it is easier. Patterns can be purchased on Jennifer’s website or during the workshop. \n\n\n\nBefore class: \n\n\n\n\nOrder a pattern and supplies at https://www.snapdragonquilting.com/ or purchase in class.\n\n\n\nStarch fabric – Curves require working with bias. Starching fabric before cutting it isimportant for reducing distortion.\n\n\n\nFrom a background fabric cut (2) 15¹⁄₂” squares (10¹⁄₂” squares for the smaller size quilt). Cut each square in half diagonally to create (4) large triangles total.\n\n\n\nBring a 13″ x WOF strip or a fat quarter of (2-3) of the moon fabrics to class.\n\n\n\nDo not cut the curves as we will do this in class.\n\n\n\nSpecial WSQ SaleJennifer is doing a sale for your guild. DESCRIPTION:Lecture: How to Build a Landscape Quilt from the Ground Up \n\n\n\nHave you ever wanted to make a landscape quilt but thought it was out of your reach? Join Jaimie for an insightful look at how to create a one-of-a-kind quilt even if you’ve never thought of yourself as an artist. Follow along as she shows you how she uses Google Images\, a copier and a light box to “build” a pattern and enjoy lighthearted stories of her less-than-successful landscapes and the principles for success she discovered along the way. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Jaimie: \n\n\n\nFormerly a scientist\, Jaimie Davis is an award-winning quilter who began quilting in 1993. In addition to making quilts\, she designs patterns\, kits and technique-based workshops and travels widely to teach for quilt guilds\, retreats and quilting festivals. Jaimie has taught and lectured for the International Quilt Festival in Houston\, Texas\, The American Quilters Society\, Mancuso Quiltfest Virtual Schoolhouse and Road to California as well as guilds throughout the United States and England. Her work has been shown in national and international exhibits including the International Quilt Show in Houston\, Texas\, and the Pacific International Quilt Festival in Santa Clara\, California. SUMMARY:Jaimie Davis
DESCRIPTION:Lecture: The History and Mystery of Baltimore Album Quilts \n\n\n\nThe history of Baltimore Album quilts is a fascinating journey into an America headed for the Civil War. Discover how the industrial revolution\, the struggle over slavery and the social and moral climate of the time contributed to this beautiful art form. Through stories\, Jaimie will explore how the demise of Baltimore Album quilts leads us into the hearts and minds of the women who made them\, and find out how a pregnancy\, a Christmas gift and a quilt class gone horribly wrong helps to explain the mystery behind why these quilts disappeared almost overnight. It’s a funny\, provocative and insightful look into some of America’s most beautiful treasures. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Jaimie: \n\n\n\nFormerly a scientist\, Jaimie Davis is an award-winning quilter who began quilting in 1993. Jaimie draws inspiration from color and curvy lines and loves to add a touch of whimsy to every project. She and her husband live in Portland\, Oregon with a whole bunch of quilts\, a lot of great books\, a turtle their kids left behind and a never-ending supply of Diet Coke. \n\n\n\nhttps://www.loopytulips.com/
