About Us
Charity Central is a committee of WSQ that provides quilts to charitable organizations in the Spokane area. Our fabric is provided primarily through the generosity of Shabby Fabrics, but we willingly accept donations of batting, backing, UFOs, orphan blocks, quilt tops, and finished quilts from anyone. We provide fabric, kits, tops, and some batting to other organizations involved in charity quilt work. We donate approximately 500 quilts a year to the greater Spokane Community. Charity Central is a very large and active community. We are always in need of piecers, quilters, and binders. Please join us in our endeavors, we can’t do it without you! You don’t need to be a WSQ member to participate in donating to Charity Central.
We have committee meetings through the year to sort and cut fabric, make quilt kits, make backings for quilts and cut batting for quilts. We donate quilts to various charitable organizations and keep track of these donations. We donate quilts kits to the Inland Northwest Machine Quilters for their annual quilting challenge. We also provide them with a yearly raffle quilt, if requested. We bring “to be quilted” kits to INMQ membership meetings. INMQ members quilt for us.
We sponsor and staff the Mountain of Quilts booth at the WSQ annual Quilt Show.

2025 Block Drive
Charity Central is having Block Drive. We are using Bonnie Hunter’s 2025 Leader/Ender Challenge “Four Patch Fun”. She has really good cutting, piecing, and pressing directions. Bonnie is doing hers in pink and gold but ours will be scrappy. The block needs two strips at 2″ x 16″, one neutral and one colored. It finishes at 6″ and will work well with the rest of what Charity Central is currently using. The Challenge is to make 50 blocks between the July 2025 WSQ Membership Meeting and the July 2026 Membership Meeting. It takes 80 blocks to make a quilt and if we all make what we can, we will get a lot of tops made! You can drop your blocks off at each WSQ Meeting and we will get them made into kits for quilts. Thanks!
