Charity Central is a committee of WSQ that provides approximately 500 quilts a year to charitable organizations in the greater Spokane area. Our fabric is provided primarily through the generosity of our members. We accept donations of batting, backing, UFOs, orphan blocks, quilt tops, kits, and finished quilts from anyone. We provide fabric, kits, tops, and some batting to others involved in charity quilt work if requested. We also provide raffle or auction quilts to other Charities for use in their Fundraising efforts. Charity Central is a large and active community. We are always in need of piecers, quilters, and binders. You don’t need to be a WSQ Member to participate in Charity Central.

We have committee meetings throughout the year to sort and cut fabric, make quilt kits, make backings, and cut batting. We have a quarterly Sort and Distribution Day where we measure, sort, label, and photograph all the donated quilts. Volunteers then take the quilts to their final destinations. All these meetings are open to everyone. They are generally held at the Spokane Valley Library, and the dates and times are posted on the website under the Events tab.

We sponsor and staff the Mountain of Quilts Booth at the annual WSQ Quilt Show. We even have our own category in the show just for our kit quilts! Come and join us! We could use your help.
