Cheryl started quilting in 1998 when she wandered into the Quilting Bee to buy fabric to make kitchen café curtains and saw an applique block of the month being taught by Manda Benton. She had never made a quilt block and never appliqued but her love of applique was firmly cemented after that class.

She has been a member of Washington State Quilters since around 1999. Her passion is needle turn applique, wool applique and art quilts. She loves to add embellishments with beading, embroidery, trims and other textile items to most (well, almost all) of her quilts. Even on early quilts, she added that bit of ‘extra’ with sparkly embroidery thread, or buttons and beads.

Cheryl also does her own machine quilting on all of her quilts and quilt projects using a Bernina Q20 machine. She moves the quilt and loves creating detailed and intricate quilting designs.
