This is for the INMOD Quilt challenge. I took inspiration from a calendar page and created a floral design that features some bright springy colors and the color challenge fabric. Ten bloomsM signify the 10 years of the InMod Quilt Guild.

After we retired, we built our dream home on the Piankatank River in Hartfield, VA. The house faces west and we enjoy many beautiful sunsets. The inspiration for the 3-D effect came from the book ‘Pieceful Scenes’ by Angela Madden.

This was given to my husband after his mom passed away. It was quilted in 1949/50 during an old-fashioned quilting bee in Missouri by his mom (Joanna), grandmother (Bess), and sister-n-laws. It was registered with Quilt Heritage, label on the back.
"Seminole Sky" is dedicated to the Dark Sky Initiative to decrease urban light so that we can see the stars. I played with scraps and used traditional Native American Seminole piecing for some of the blocks.
A friend of mine (who was not a quilter) had received this quilt from her aunt. She gave it to me and asked me to see if I could determine the age of the fabric in the quilt. Unfortunately, she passed away before I could return it to her.
"Colors of Spring" is dedicated to the amazing artist George Mendoza who became legally blind in his teens. I challenged myself to combine these vibrant fabrics in a modern traditional style.
Original quilt was made by an unknow quilter years ago. I want to finish the quilt but did not want to alter it like most treasure quilts I replaced the outer sashing with a similar fabric.
Jimmy Buffet's song. "Bubbles Up" is a poem of encouragement and hope, based upon the deep sea divers' advice to follow the bubbles up to the surface if you lose your orientation. This is my visual interpretation of Jimmy's message.
I honestly do not remember where/when I got this quilt. I believe it was a number of years ago when I helped clean out a quilter's stash, as I remember that there were some quilts there that had already been finished.
