Just like the women in one of Jennifer Chiaverini's books, I worked on this quilt only between Thanksgiving and early January for several years. Each block represents a state where my husband or I (or both) have lived.

This quilt began as a Round Robin in the INMOD Guild in 2021! I finished it this year after I retired from my law practice. I got back more blue & low volume scraps than I sent out and added two additional rounds of steps before quilting.

INMOD Quilt Guild had a class with quilt designer Tara Faughnan & chose her Galactic quilt with diamonds for our 10th anniversary year. I made my log cabin diamonds with a light & dark side. I used a random number generator to pick the color order.

Somehow else cut the blocks and fused the appliques in place. I just needed to stitch down the appliques and do an overall quilting pattern.

Participating in this challenge makes me focus on my machine quilting.

It's finally finished! This quilt was supposed to be entered last year and I was embroidering one of the panels when I got the call to take my brother to the hospital for a brain bleed. It's a celebration of resilience to be entering this quilt.

I have finally finished this quilt after 10 years. I love all the different fabrics I used, some were my grandmother's from 80 years ago and some I've bought in the past few years. I love this eclectic mix of fabric ages and quilt blocks!

I started this quilt shortly after I moved to Spokane 14 years ago. I worked on it faithfully while the appliqué club met, but it often languished between times. So happy to see these critters finally done!

Tiling scenes are like doing a paint-by-number puzzle. Each piece needs to be embroidered and all the pieces put together for the final picture to be revealed. This scene took 45 hours to embroider….and a few more hours to put together. Love it!!

I decided to make this quilt into a Fourth of July wall hanging in honor of our Country's 250th anniversary.
