WSQ Friendship Swap - WSQ Spokane

Hello and welcome to our new version of Swap! We have a new name and new projects to work on, but with the same great idea of getting to know our fellow quilters in WSQ. Instead of season theme, this year we will be doing different sizes and styles of Scissor and Rotary Cutter sleeves, pockets, or sheaths. Whichever you wish to call it. This should be so fun since there are literally hundreds of free patterns online. Other than the basic guideline each time, HAVE FUN and feel free to BE CREATIVE!

Each quarter, we will match you with a different partner to swap a Case/Pocket/Sheath. If you participate all year, you will meet 4 new quilters and have 4 fun new Scissor cases. If you sign up at the January meeting, you will be paired with a partner in February and have until the April meeting to make your first Case/Pocket/Sheath. After each meeting, we will assign you a new partner.

How big should I make my Case/Pocket/Sheath??

Check the size your partner has listed to assure that you item will fit what they have.

Is there a specific size I need to make it?

Absolutely not! Just make sure it can fit the size of item listed.

How do I make a Case/Pocket/Sheath?

Search the internet for “Free Scissor or Rotary Cutter patterns”. Most all of them come with tutorial videos!

What should I use for the basic fabrics?

You can use self pieced patchwork, applique, embroidery, or any other fabric that you think your Swap Partner will like.

Do I need to swap with my partner in-person?

If you can’t make it to the meeting to swap with your partner, you can mail your Case/Pocket/Sheath. If you only want to swap by mail, we will try our best to match you with another mail-only partner.

Do I need to participate in all 4 swaps?

We hope you will, but if you can’t just let us know.

I didn’t sign up in January, can I still participate?

Yes! Join in anytime and we will add you to the next season swap.

Do I need to me a member of WSQ to participate?

Yes, you must be a paid member for 2024 to participate in the swap.

May I add a gift for my swap partner?

Feel free to add a little surprise for your partner but keep it small and inexpensive (under $5). Remember this is all about the Case/Pocket/Sheath!

I signed up but I’m unable to make a Case/Pocket/Sheathfor my partner.

We understand, life happens. Please let us know ASAP so we can pair your partner with someone else.

I didn’t receive a Case/Pocket/Sheath from my partner.
