When you turn a kaleidoscope the colors spin. When I designed this quilt, it reminded me of how the colors spin and mix.
This was a BOM from Log Cabin Dry Goods started in 2008 I believe. Finished the top this past Winter. Decided to hand quilt it in May and here it is FINALLY DONE! Waiting for the calluses on my fingers to heal but love it now that it is done!!
I purchased the pattern in 2009? 6 blocks were made then put away until this past March when I took them to the WCC tournament in Vegas & worked on them at half time & between games. All 24 blocks were done by end of April! Why did I wait so long?!

When I was a young girl, I was walking the beach and found a mermaid caught in some fishnet on an outcropping of rocks. I cut away the fishnet. Then the mermaid pulled out a magic pinwheel from a rock crevice. Read what happened next on quilt back.

Inspired by a book called 365 Sashiko by Susan Briscoe and YouTube Sashiko videos. Learning to create grids, mark patterns and use even stiches has been a challenge but so glad I persevered. Kept me company many a winters night quietly stitching.

This quilt was pieced by members of the Fat Quarter Quilters of Deer Park, WA. Our inspiration was from Lynn Wilder of "Sew'n Wild Oaks" designs. The name of her pattern is " Heritage Quilt". Rose Riepe and Dianne Brunotte chose the colors.
I wanted to make a miniature quilt, and find this quilt on Pinterest, and fell in love with it. I got the pattern and found out that it was 16 x 16 so I had to modify it. I still needed something and my daughter suggested the flange. It’s perfect!

I was just going for a basic utility quilt to use up scraps. Not one to put in the show. But this one turned out to be very appealing and it's currently one of my all-time favorites. It sure fits the theme of this year's show!
