I saw this design in an old quilt magazine and it looked fun. And it was! I had a bunch of greys to use up. I guess I'd never made a grey quilt. I'm happy that I decided to use them. Grey quilts are pretty cool. This won't be my last one.

Pattern has hole in the barn door block. I have had this pattern for many years. Getting a puppy meant only hand sewing her first few months so I embroidered a block a week until I could get back to my quilt room.

Received in some vintage blocks from Jean Wells which needed to be used. I set them on the design wall and thought long and hard how they would work. Grabbed some solids and figured out measurements of the background to work to the size I wanted.

A project started many years ago. I needed a nice leather jacket and was playing with leather like Ms. Wiggins. It is an original and worth the effort.
You must make one of her quilts to appreciate the fact that block lock rulers are wonderful. There are so many pieces in one block. It was a challenge, but a joy to make. Another unfinished project completed.

I started in 2012 when I finished another applique quilt. Put aside, worked on, put aside, assembled top, put aside, but now completed. Purchased the book and fabrics at Buggy Barn. Used silk thread for applique. It is a beauty.
With some repairs to the blocks, this quilt is done. It is a treasure of calicos. Why the person pieced the blocks onto the background, unknown. Had to work in the shifting due to fullness. Simple made this quilt perfect.
